Chutney
Chutney is a wonderful addition to a meal of cold meats, cheese or a curry or barbecue. Homemade chutney can be made to your taste – add extra spice or more/less sugar and experiment with ingredients, especially if you grow your own fruit and vegetables and have a glut. Chutney will keep in a dark cupboard for at least a year. It also makes a lovely Christmas present!
Always sterilise your jars by running through a dishwasher cycle or washing in hot soapy water and rinsing in clean water. Use plastic or greaseproof lids, not metal, which will react with the vinegar.
