Greening Up Tollesbury – Mass Planting Day
Mass Planting Day
You may remember that Tollesbury Climate Partnership was awarded more than £6,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund to help us continue our work of “Greening up Tollesbury.”
We’ve already made a great start, planting hundreds of trees and hedging plants around the village, including our wonderful new orchard. These projects are helping to create greener spaces for everyone, while also supporting biodiversity and taking action to address climate change.
And now, thanks to the funding, we have the opportunity to do even more!
Mass Planting Day
We’re inviting everyone in the community to join us for a fun and friendly planting session at the cemetery.
When: 1st November 2026
Start: 10.30am
Finish: 12.30pm
We’ll be planting a mixture of wildflower bulbs and plug plants amongst the trees, creating a more colourful and wildlife-friendly space for everyone to enjoy.
What will we be planting?
There will be lots of different species, including:
Bluebells
Foxgloves
Daffodils
Wood anemones
Ox-eye daisies
Forget-me-nots
…and plenty more!
The aim is to create a beautiful natural area that will attract pollinators, support wildlife and add colour and interest for everyone who visits the cemetery.
Everyone is welcome!
This is very much a community event, and you don’t need to be an experienced gardener to take part. Families, children, adults — everyone is welcome.
Please bring a trowel and a pair of gardening gloves if you have them.
We’ll also have hot and cold drinks and cake to keep everyone refreshed, and we’re hoping to include some other fun activities on the day too.
So come along, get your hands dirty and help us make Tollesbury a little greener, more colourful and better for wildlife.
We look forward to seeing you there!
